Jacksonville Drug Investigation Leads to Seizure of Fentanyl, Cocaine and Methamphetamine

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detectives seized thousands of potentially fatal doses of fentanyl and several other illegal drugs during a narcotics investigation that resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old man, authorities announced.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Narcotics Unit identified Allen Johnson as a suspected drug dealer operating from a motel room in the Magnolia Gardens area off Edgewood Avenue.

Investigators said they gathered evidence against Johnson and obtained a search warrant for his motel room. During the investigation, Johnson moved to another motel off Edgewood Avenue and continued his alleged drug sales operation from a different room.

On May 15, members of the Narcotics Unit and the SWAT Team executed a search warrant at Johnson’s motel room.

Authorities reported seizing 14.8 grams of fentanyl, which they said equates to more than 7,400 potentially fatal doses. Detectives also recovered 333.9 grams of cathinone, 50.9 grams of powder cocaine, 22.8 grams of crack cocaine, 20 grams of methamphetamine and 2.5 pounds of marijuana.

Johnson was arrested and faces a dozen felony charges, according to the sheriff’s office.
