NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. — A Jacksonville man has been arrested in connection with the theft of an electric bicycle and is also suspected of involvement in a series of moped thefts across the Beaches area, according to the Neptune Beach Police Department.
The investigation began on June 5, 2026, when a suspect unlawfully entered a fenced residential property and stole an electric bicycle.
Through investigative efforts, detectives identified the suspect as 40-year-old Ryan Bailey of Jacksonville.
As the investigation progressed, detectives discovered evidence linking Bailey to multiple moped thefts that had occurred throughout the Beaches community.
On June 11, detectives with the Neptune Beach Police Department, working alongside patrol officers and with assistance from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, responded to Bailey’s residence and took him into custody without incident.
Bailey was transported to the Duval County Jail and booked on the following charges:
- Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling, a second-degree felony
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle Valued at Less Than $100,000, a third-degree felony
- Petit Theft of Property Valued Between $100 and $750, a first-degree misdemeanor
Police said the arrest was the result of a coordinated effort between detectives, patrol officers and partner agencies.
The Neptune Beach Police Department credited the investigation to the continued teamwork of law enforcement personnel dedicated to solving property crimes and holding offenders accountable.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be possible as detectives continue reviewing related theft cases.
