ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. A 72-year-old man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man at an Atlantic Beach residence, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began shortly after 9 p.m. on July 7, when officers with the Atlantic Beach Police Department responded to a home on Rose Avenue near Mayport Road.
Officers found 49-year-old Mickey Jo Guile lying in a back bedroom with stab wounds. Guile was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit joined the investigation in partnership with the Atlantic Beach Police Department and the State Attorney’s Office.
Through the investigation, detectives identified 72-year-old Stephen Perez-Guerra as the suspect.
Perez-Guerra was arrested on July 8 and charged with second-degree murder. He was booked into the Duval County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office expressed its condolences to Guile’s family and friends.
