JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Duval County jury has found a Jacksonville man guilty of selling cocaine to undercover detectives during a narcotics investigation earlier this year, according to State Attorney Melissa Nelson.
William Scott Lindsey was convicted of sale or delivery of cocaine following a jury trial. He now faces up to 15 years in Florida State Prison.
The Honorable Jeb Branham will impose Lindsey’s sentence at a later date.
According to prosecutors, on Feb. 22, 2026, an undercover Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detective met with Lindsey, who was known on the street as “Scottie,” to purchase crack cocaine.
Investigators said Lindsey agreed to sell “hard,” a street term for crack cocaine, and entered an undercover vehicle occupied by three detectives.
Lindsey directed the detectives to an apartment complex in the greater Arlington area, where the officers gave him $20 to purchase the narcotics.
Authorities said Lindsey exited the vehicle, obtained the cocaine, returned to the undercover car and handed the drugs to one of the detectives, completing the transaction.
The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant State Attorneys Jack Jolly and Ross Wade prosecuted the case for the State Attorney’s Office.
Lindsey remains awaiting sentencing, where he faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in state prison.
