YULEE, Fla. – A Nassau County contractor has been arrested after investigators say he accepted thousands of dollars for home improvement work that was never completed and performed contracting work without the required certification.
Jack Edwin Harris, 38, was arrested Monday, Aug. 24, and charged with Organized Fraud and Engaging in Contracting Without Certification, according to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began Aug. 5 after a victim contacted law enforcement about home improvement projects they had hired Harris to perform.
According to investigators, the victim hired Harris in November 2024 and paid him $8,700 for materials and work. The projects were never completed, authorities said.
As detectives investigated the complaint, they learned Harris had allegedly been hired by other people to perform contracting work and also failed to complete those projects.
The sheriff’s office did not disclose how many additional customers investigators have identified or the total amount of money Harris is accused of accepting.
Detectives Believe There May Be More Victims
Investigators believe other people may have hired Harris and are asking potential victims who have not already filed a report to come forward.
Harris was booked into the Nassau County Jail & Detention Center and was being held on a bond exceeding $50,000.
