JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 41-year-old Jacksonville man accused of trafficking fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine was released from the Duval County Jail after posting $312,500 bail, one day after a SWAT team raided his Westside home and seized large quantities of drugs.
Christopher Ryan Herndon was arrested Aug. 27 after the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team served a search warrant at his home on Potomac Avenue.
The investigation began after detectives with JSO’s Overdose Investigations Unit received information that Herndon was selling drugs. Investigators said they developed evidence that he was selling fentanyl and obtained a warrant to search the residence.
During the search, officers reported finding 849.2 grams of fentanyl, an amount JSO described as representing more than 400,000 potentially lethal doses.
Detectives also seized 1.33 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1.25 kilograms of powder cocaine, 57.3 grams of crack cocaine and 14.3 grams of marijuana.
Nearly $12,000 in cash and three vehicles used in the drug business were also seized.
Investigators said they found a notebook belonging to Herndon that contained the handwritten statement, “no police… will come to me.”
Herndon was booked into the Duval County Jail on 10 charges, including trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in methamphetamine and trafficking in cocaine.
He also faces four counts of knowingly owning a structure or vehicle used for selling drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia for the manufacture or delivery of drugs, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence in a criminal proceeding.
Herndon has a previous criminal history that includes drug trafficking offenses.
Despite the new trafficking charges, Herndon was released from jail Aug. 28 after posting $312,500 bail.
His next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 17 at the Duval County Courthouse.
