BUNNELL, Fla. — A Flagler County man convicted of repeatedly stabbing his wife to death outside their Bunnell home while their 14-year-old son watched was sentenced to death Monday, October 26, 2026.
Jermaine Williams Sr. received the death sentence following a July jury recommendation in which 11 of 12 jurors voted in favor of capital punishment for the first-degree murder of his wife.
Circuit Judge Dawn Nichols imposed the sentence during Monday’s hearing.
The killing occurred August 2, 2024, on a street outside the couple’s home in Bunnell.
According to prosecutors, Williams stabbed his wife approximately 19 to 20 times during an attack witnessed by the victim’s 14-year-old son.
The teenager attempted to intervene as his mother was being attacked.
Williams’ father, who lived nearby, came upon the scene and held his son at gunpoint until he stepped away from the victim.
The woman was transported to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Surveillance Video Captured Williams Retrieving Knife Before Attack
Surveillance footage presented in the case showed Williams entering the family’s home and returning with an eight-inch chef’s knife before attacking his wife.
Following his arrest, Williams admitted to investigators that he had retrieved the knife from the kitchen and stabbed his wife multiple times.
During questioning, Williams told detectives that a comment made by his wife had “pushed him over the edge.”
The evidence formed part of the prosecution’s case against Williams, who was convicted of first-degree murder.
Jury Recommended Death Penalty by 11-1 Vote
In July 2026, a Flagler County jury voted 11-1 to recommend the death penalty.
Chief of Homicide Jason Lewis and Assistant State Attorney Helen Schwartz represented the prosecution and argued for the death sentence.
State Attorney R.J. Larizza described the attack and the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.
“The video footage shows a chilling and merciless killing. The defendant stabbed his wife 20 times while their 14-year-old son watched,” Larizza said.
“Only the defendant’s father – armed with a gun – was able to stop the brutal attack. There can be no quarter, no sympathy and no doubt that the death penalty was the only choice in this case.”
Judge Nichols formally sentenced Williams to death on October 26.
