PALATKA, Fla. — A 34-year-old Palatka man will spend more than two decades in state prison after pleading no contest to multiple methamphetamine trafficking charges stemming from a year-long investigation that uncovered drug sales across several Northeast Florida communities.
Timothy Wiggins Jr., 34, was sentenced Wednesday, November 4, 2026, to 22 years in Florida state prison in three separate drug cases.
The sentence follows a 2025 investigation conducted by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office drug unit, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Homeland Security.
Investigation Uncovered Methamphetamine Sales Beyond Putnam County
During the multi-jurisdictional investigation, detectives determined that Wiggins was distributing methamphetamine in Palatka and expanding his drug sales into other communities.
Investigators found that his activities extended south into Crescent City and north into Clay County.
The investigation lasted approximately one year and resulted in three separate criminal cases against Wiggins.
Wiggins Pleaded No Contest Rather Than Face Trial
In October 2026, Wiggins pleaded no contest to multiple charges, including trafficking in methamphetamine, unlawful use of a two-way communication device and conspiracy to traffic in methamphetamine.
By entering the plea, Wiggins avoided going to trial on the charges.
He faced a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, but the judge imposed a 22-year sentence.
Putnam County Sheriff Praises Investigators and Prosecutors
Putnam County Sheriff H.D. “Gator” DeLoach credited investigators, federal and state law enforcement partners, and prosecutors for building the case against Wiggins.
“I am thankful not only for the due diligence by our detectives and partner organizations, but also to the state’s attorney’s office in creating a solid enough case that pressed upon Mr. Wiggins the reality of his situation,” DeLoach said.
“We can now move him along to the state prison system where he is no longer plaguing our community with poison.”
Wiggins will serve his 22-year sentence in the Florida state prison system.
