The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has concluded a series of burglary investigations involving a suspect who reportedly engaged female victims. The investigation revealed that multiple residences on the city’s Westside, specifically in the San Juan Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard area, were targeted. The suspect primarily entered through unsecured access points and would intentionally confront female occupants. Upon being seen, he would flee the scene on foot.
Following these incidents, the Sheriff’s Office released images and pertinent information to the community, seeking assistance in identifying the suspect. That same evening, officers from the District 4 Task Force were patrolling the areas where the suspect had been active. They observed an individual matching the suspect’s description, who attempted to flee on a bicycle but was apprehended. He was arrested on unrelated charges at the time.
While the suspect remained in the Pre-Trial Detention Facility, detectives from the Special Assault and Burglary units continued their investigation, speaking with victims and witnesses and vetting evidence collected from multiple crime scenes. Their efforts led to the identification of 37-year-old Joseph Parrott as the suspect. He was re-arrested on multiple charges, including Attempted Sexual Battery, Burglary, and Grand Theft.
The Sheriff’s Office commended the collaborative efforts of the Task Force Officers and detectives in successfully resolving this case. Anyone with additional information regarding these incidents is encouraged to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500.
