Esdras Joel Garcia De La Rosa, 28, of Los Angeles, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. De La Rosa faces a potential life sentence in federal prison, with sentencing pending.
According to court records, De La Rosa collaborated with Durand Dijuon Demetiu Colbert, 34, of Fort Myers, to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. Operating from Los Angeles, De La Rosa supplied the controlled substances to Colbert, who distributed them locally in Lee County, Florida. Shipments were sent via U.S. mail and other carriers.
On November 17, 2023, Lee County deputies executed a search warrant at Colbert’s residence and recovered approximately 1,700 fentanyl pills linked to a shipment from De La Rosa.
Colbert pleaded guilty on September 16, 2024, and is scheduled to be sentenced on December 12, 2024.
The case was investigated by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Morgan is prosecuting the case.
