St. Johns County Deputy Surprises Family with Gift Card During Holiday Traffic Stop

On December 21, 2024, Deputy Riggins of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop for a tag light violation. The vehicle, occupied by a family traveling to Florida for the holidays, included a young driver experiencing his first traffic stop.

Deputy Riggins commended the driver for safely pulling over and provided a verbal warning about the tag light. In a heartwarming gesture, he surprised the family with a $100 Visa gift card, made possible by anonymous donors from the Community Foundation for Northeast Florida.

After presenting the gift card, Deputy Riggins assisted the family by replacing the tag light bulbs, ensuring they could continue their road trip safely. The family expressed gratitude for the thoughtful gesture and the assistance.

Deputy Riggins remarked that the family was the best encounter he had experienced all week. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office shared appreciation for opportunities to give back and create positive interactions during the holiday season.
