Traffic Stop on County Road 138 in Gilchrist County Leads to Fentanyl Arrest

On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, a routine patrol by the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) led to the arrest of a Branford man found in possession of fentanyl.

Deputies were patrolling County Road 138 in response to community complaints about traffic and possible criminal activity when they spotted a silver passenger car driven by 59-year-old Lance Alan Fox. Deputies recognized Fox and knew he had a suspended driver’s license.

A traffic stop was initiated, and a K9 unit conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle. The K9 alerted to the presence of drugs, prompting deputies to search Fox. During the search, a white powdered substance was found on his person and later tested positive for fentanyl.

Fox was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and transported to the Gilchrist County Jail.

Sheriff Bobby Schultz thanked the community for reporting concerns and reaffirmed his commitment to keeping the county’s roadways safe and curbing the movement of illegal narcotics, including fentanyl, through the area.
