Young Driver Charged with Vehicular Homicide for November Crash That Killed Two in Tallahassee

On November 24, 2024, at approximately 3:27 a.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle crash near Cactus Street and Hayward Drive. The vehicle had left the roadway, struck a tree, and flipped onto its side.

The driver and front-seat passenger were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Tragically, both rear-seat passengers were pronounced deceased at the scene.

After a detailed investigation, detectives determined probable cause to charge the driver, 20-year-old Christopher Congdon, with two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of DUI manslaughter. Deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Congdon at his residence. He is currently being held at the Clay County Jail.

The Tallahassee Police Department urges the public to never drive under the influence and to prioritize road safety.
