Convicted Felon Throws Cocaine From Car During Chase, Arrested for Trafficking

A 29-year-old man was arrested Tuesday evening after throwing a large quantity of cocaine from his vehicle while attempting to flee Collier County deputies.

Brandon Covert Kosiorek, a convicted felon and documented gang member in Collier County, is being held at the Naples Jail Center on a charge of cocaine trafficking (200 grams to 150 kilograms).

The incident began around 6 p.m. when a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Max Hasse Park and Golden Gate Boulevard for a broken taillight and other violations. Instead of stopping, Kosiorek sped away, leading deputies on a pursuit.

During the chase, Kosiorek threw a white object out of his car window onto a residential street. A short distance later, he stopped his vehicle and was taken into custody.

Deputies recovered the discarded object, which field-tested positive for cocaine and weighed 231.2 grams.

Sheriff Kevin Rambosk stated: “This individual thought he could elude our deputies who were trying to conduct a lawful traffic stop and evade arrest by discarding a large quantity of cocaine out of his car window. Unfortunately for him, alert deputies detected his maneuver and thwarted his plan. Thanks to them, harmful drugs were removed from our community and this individual is back behind bars where he belongs.”
