Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has arrested 36-year-old Michael Wilt in connection with a series of burglaries targeting local dollar stores.
The investigation began earlier this month when officers responded to a break-in at a dollar store on Blanding Boulevard. Surveillance footage showed a suspect smashing the front glass door, breaking into a display case, and stealing cigarettes. Multiple other dollar stores in the area reported similar burglaries.
The District 4 Violent Crime Task Force conducted surveillance at a dollar store on 103rd Street and apprehended Wilt as he attempted another burglary. Surveillance footage from previous incidents linked him to the crimes.
Wilt was booked into the Duval County Jail.
