Two Arrested for First-Degree Murder in Macclenny Shooting Death

The Baker County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) has announced the arrests of Jamarian Byrd, 22, and Travis Roberts Jr., 24, in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on June 26 on Quail Lane and South Blvd. in Macclenny.

The victim, Devin Powers Jr. “DJ”, 23, tragically succumbed to his injuries on July 2 and was pronounced deceased. As a result, Byrd and Roberts Jr. have both been charged with First-Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery, three counts of Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling, and Discharging a Firearm in Public.

Over the past week and a half, BCSO detectives diligently reviewed evidence and facts with the State Attorney’s Office, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants for both suspects.

Sheriff Scotty Rhoden extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of DJ Powers and reiterated that “gun violence has no place in Baker County.”
