Fatal Crash in Ormond Beach Claims Life of 68-Year-Old Driver

On Friday, August 8, 2025, at approximately 9 p.m., emergency responders were called to the intersection of East Granada Boulevard and Vining Court following a serious two-vehicle collision.

The crash involved a black 2012 Ford Mustang convertible driven by 22-year-old Francisco Guzman-Rivera and a white 2021 Toyota RAV4 driven by 68-year-old Paul Monroe Booker. Booker was turning left from Vining Court onto Granada Boulevard when Guzman-Rivera, traveling eastbound, collided with his vehicle.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital as trauma alerts. Booker later died from his injuries. His next of kin has been notified.

Preliminary investigation suggests speed and alcohol may have been factors. The Ormond Beach Police Department continues to investigate.

Chief Jesse Godfrey expressed condolences to the family, emphasizing the tragedy could have been prevented and urged the public to use rideshare or designated drivers when drinking.
