On Monday morning, September 8, Ocala Police responded to reports of a student with a firearm on a school bus. Officers safely detained a 9-year-old juvenile and recovered a loaded revolver. No injuries were reported.
Investigators say the firearm was taken without permission from a relative’s secured room. The child admitted to bringing the gun on the bus and showing it to others. He was arrested and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Charges include:
• Possession of a Firearm on School Property
• Armed Burglary
• Grand Theft of a Firearm
• Carrying a Concealed Firearm
• Disruption of School Function
Authorities praised the students who alerted the bus driver, as well as the swift response of officers. Officials stressed that vigilance and quick reporting remain key to keeping schools safe.
