GAINESVILLE, Fla.—A Gainesville man has been arrested on child pornography charges after an investigation was prompted by a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
On Tuesday, September 16, the GPD & Alachua County Sheriff ICAC Task Force, with the assistance of ASO SWAT, investigated a lead at a residence on SW 86th Terrace. The initial tip indicated that a user of a cloud storage provider had attempted to share child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Through investigation, Gainesville Police Department Detective Montague identified the account holder as Tyler N Do, 21, who resides at that address. Do was already known to law enforcement as a suspect in a similar case from the previous year.
During an interview, Do stated that he was aware law enforcement was at his residence because he had received an email earlier in the year that his cloud storage account was shut down for illegal activity. He claimed not to know the material was in his account and that he had not viewed any CSAM since April 2024, though he admitted to incidentally viewing it on social media while looking for adult pornography.
Based on evidence found in his cloud storage account, Do was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography, one count of Distribution of Child Pornography, and one count of Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communications Device. All of his electronic devices were seized for a full forensic analysis.
The Gainesville Police Department is urging parents to be vigilant about the online platforms their children use and to have conversations about the dangers of the internet.
