St. Johns County Man Arrested in Romance Scam Case

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Property Crimes detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 35-year-old Edit Manjic on charges of grand theft and scheme to defraud, known as a “romance scam”.

Investigators say that between October 2024 and May 2025, Manjic carried out a calculated scheme that caused significant financial losses to a victim. Detectives allege Manjic exploited a romantic relationship to gain trust, then fabricated financial emergencies and misrepresented the need for money to fund fake business ventures. Through repeated manipulation and coercion, he obtained hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about this case, or who believes they may also be a victim, to contact Detective H. Aran at haran@sjso.org.
