Former Student Arrested for Threatening Mass Shooting at Meadowbrook Academy

OCALA, FL — The Ocala Police Department has arrested a 30-year-old former student after she allegedly made online threats referencing a mass shooting at Meadowbrook Academy.

On September 24, officers received a report about a Facebook post from an account under the name “Oksana Sophia Oeputat.” The post, made around 6 a.m., alluded to a shooting at the school, located at 4741 SW 20th Street. Investigators identified the account holder as Oksana Deputat, who previously attended the school.

Ocala Police officers were immediately dispatched to the campus to ensure the safety of students and staff while detectives worked to track down Deputat. Additional concerning posts discovered on her social media account heightened police concern.

Detective Drake developed probable cause to charge Deputat with making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting and disrupting the function of an educational institution.

“The safety of our schools remains our top priority,” the department said in a statement. “We take all threats with the utmost seriousness and will act swiftly to address any risks. Thank you for supporting us as we work together to ensure a safe environment for everyone in our schools.”
