Kidnapping Suspect Turns Himself In, St. Petersburg Police Confirm

The St. Petersburg Police Department reports that 27-year-old Jahvontae Bell is in custody after turning himself in early this morning.

Bell is charged with kidnapping, carjacking, and aggravated stalking in connection to an incident involving a former girlfriend earlier this month.

On September 1, 2025, at approximately 7:15 a.m., witnesses saw Jayanna Clark in an altercation with a man in the parking lot of the Crescent Lane Apartments on Gandy Boulevard. The man, later identified as Bell, forced Clark into her own car and drove away.

Police quickly issued an alert listing Clark as a Missing Endangered Woman. The next morning, September 2, Clark was able to call police from a location in Clearwater. She was safely returned home.

Detectives had been actively searching for Bell since the incident until he surrendered today.
