Son Charged with 30 Counts of Child Pornography

The investigation began in January 2025 after the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit received three CyberTipline reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which flagged social media accounts suspected of soliciting minors and possessing explicit material.

Early Wednesday morning, October 15th, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Peach Tree Street, where David Bailey, 24, was taken into custody.

  • A forensic examination of one of Bailey’s seized electronic devices revealed numerous files of CSAM depicting infants and children up to 7 years old.
  • Bailey was subsequently charged with 30 counts of possession of child pornography and using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

Father Charged with Failure to Register

During the search warrant, investigators also discovered that Bailey’s father, James Johnson, 51, a registered sex offender, had failed to disclose a Facebook account as required by his court-ordered sex offender registration.

Johnson was arrested and charged with:

  • Failure to register as required.
  • Providing false information during registration.

Both Bailey and Johnson were transported and booked into the Walton County Jail. This remains an active investigation, and additional charges are expected.
