Teen Arrested for Bringing Firearm to Strawberry Crest High School in Dover

Dover, FL – A ninth-grade student at Strawberry Crest High School was arrested after being found with a firearm on school grounds on Monday, October 27, 2025.

According to school officials, administrators initially approached 15-year-old Alan Juarez-Ramirez around 9:30 a.m. after receiving information that he might be in possession of vape pens. During a search of his backpack, staff discovered a 9mm semi-automatic pistol. The firearm was unloaded and no ammunition was present.

When confronted, Juarez-Ramirez attempted to flee and pushed two school administrators to the ground, causing minor injuries.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds
  • Minor in Possession of a Firearm
  • Battery on a Specified Official or Employee (two counts)

Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized the seriousness of the incident, stating, “There is absolutely no excuse for bringing a firearm onto a school campus. Every student and staff member deserves to feel safe at school, and we will continue to hold anyone fully accountable who jeopardizes that safety.”

No direct threats were made toward students or staff, and the investigation remains ongoing.
