Putnam County Man Arrested for Bestiality After Disturbing Video Reported

Putnam County detectives arrested a 24-year-old Interlachen man Monday in connection with an animal cruelty investigation involving sexual contact with an animal.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Brendan Hanes of Hawthorne was taken into custody on December 29 following an investigation that began earlier this month. Deputies say the case came to light after an online acquaintance reported receiving a video allegedly recorded by Hanes that showed him sexually abusing a dog. The video was shared with a mutual online contact, who then notified law enforcement.

Detectives said a dog matching the description seen in the video was located at Hanes’ residence. Investigators also confirmed the residence matched the background visible in the recording.

Hanes was arrested and booked into the Putnam County Jail, where he is being held on a $2,500 bond.

Two dogs were removed from the home and placed in the care of Putnam County Animal Services. Officials said the animals are undergoing comprehensive veterinary examinations and will receive any necessary medical treatment to ensure their health and well-being.

The investigation remains ongoing.
