Louisiana Robbery Suspect Arrested in Walton County Traffic Stop, Nearly $150,000 Found

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. – A woman wanted in Louisiana on robbery-related charges was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Walton County after a coordinated traffic stop involving multiple law enforcement agencies, authorities said.

According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, a be-on-the-lookout alert was issued for a vehicle driven by Alexa Marie Braud, 34, of Gretna, Louisiana, who was wanted out of state.

A sheriff’s deputy spotted the suspect vehicle, a red Toyota Corolla, just after 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 285 and U.S. Highway 90 in the Mossy Head area. With assistance from a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, and additional Walton County deputies, officers conducted a felony stop at a nearby gas station.

Braud was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies discovered a small cooler containing nearly $150,000 in cash, along with a firearm.

Braud was transported to and booked into the Walton County Jail. She is currently awaiting extradition to Louisiana, where she faces a felony theft charge.
