Jacksonville, FL — A Duval County jury has found 28-year-old Stevon Lashion Walker guilty of Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon following a violent robbery at a Jacksonville convenience store.
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced the conviction, which resulted in Walker receiving a mandatory life sentence under Florida’s Prison Releasee Re-Offender and Habitual Violent Felony Offender laws.
The Honorable Judge Mark Borello formally sentenced Walker to life in prison on March 4.
According to prosecutors, the robbery occurred around 5 p.m. on April 9, 2023, at a convenience store on Cassat Avenue.
Authorities said Walker entered the store and purchased several scratch-off lottery tickets. He then approached the clerk under the pretense of redeeming winning tickets before pulling out a firearm and demanding money from the register.
The clerk handed over the cash, but Walker then demanded the clerk open the store’s ATM.
When the clerk told Walker he did not have the keys to access the machine, a violent struggle broke out.
Prosecutors said Walker struck the victim several times in the head with the firearm. Despite the attack, the clerk managed to escape and ran to a nearby store to call for help.
Investigators later found a large amount of blood at the scene along with identification belonging to Walker, two 9mm shell casings, and a pistol magazine.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
