Woman Shot and Killed in Southwest Orlando, Husband Charged With Murder

ORLANDO, Fla. — A woman is dead and her husband is in custody following a shooting Monday afternoon in Southwest Orlando, police said.

Officers responded around 1:38 p.m. on April 6 to the 4900 block of Eaglesmere Drive, where they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as 27-year-old Franyelin Annabel Pires Reyes.

Investigators determined the suspect, identified as her husband, Himber Alexander Rivero Romero, remained at the scene after the shooting and was taken into custody.

According to police, the couple had recently separated but were still living together. Authorities said the victim had begun a new relationship, which led to ongoing disputes between the two in the days leading up to the shooting.

Rivero Romero, 30, has been charged with First Degree Murder and is currently being held in the Orange County Jail.

Officials also confirmed that an immigration detainer has been placed on the suspect.

The investigation remains active, and no additional details have been released at this time.
