Felon Arrested in Gainesville After Fleeing Deputies, Crashing Vehicle and Discarding Drugs; Over 1,000 Fatal Doses of Fentanyl Found

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities arrested a convicted felon after a vehicle pursuit, crash, and foot chase that ended inside a nearby residence, officials said.

The incident began during the late evening hours of April 3, 2026, when deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gray Volkswagen in the 4200 block of Southwest 17th Place. Investigators said the vehicle was believed to be driven by 27-year-old Ahmadric Stone, who was known to have a suspended or revoked license and was operating a vehicle with an incorrect tag.

According to deputies, Stone fled from the attempted stop and later jumped out of the moving vehicle in an effort to escape on foot. The vehicle continued moving and crashed into a parked car that had occupants inside. No serious injuries were reported.

Deputies pursued Stone on foot as he ignored multiple commands to stop. While searching the area, deputies heard a scream from a nearby residence in the 4100 block of Southwest 17th Place. They responded and located Stone inside the home, where he was detained.

Investigators said they later retraced his path and recovered the vehicle’s keys along with narcotics Stone had allegedly discarded. The substances included approximately 3.8 grams of fentanyl and 2.3 grams of cocaine. Authorities noted the fentanyl amount could represent more than 1,000 potentially lethal doses.

Stone was arrested and faces multiple charges, including possession of fentanyl with intent to sell or deliver, possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver, tampering with evidence, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, leaving the scene of a crash, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and resisting without violence.
