Daytona Beach Man Sentenced to Three Consecutive Life Terms in Triple Murder Case

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A Volusia County defendant has been sentenced to three consecutive life sentences after entering no contest pleas to three counts of first-degree murder in a 2023 triple killing, prosecutors announced.

41-year-old Jerome L. Anderson entered the pleas during a hearing and was immediately sentenced to serve three consecutive life terms.

The charges stem from a July 12, 2023, shooting on Park Drive in Daytona Beach.

Prosecutors said Anderson first shot and killed his roommate inside their home before walking into the street and shooting two more men.

Video surveillance showed Anderson chasing one of the victims in the roadway and firing at him, including while the victim was on the ground, according to prosecutors.

All three victims were shot multiple times and died.

Investigators said a witness told detectives Anderson had argued with the victims the night before at a convenience store and made threats to kill them.

During an interview with detectives, Anderson admitted to shooting his roommate and the two other victims, according to prosecutors.

“The defendant is a dangerous and violent offender,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said. “Removing him from our community was essential to our duty to protect you and your family.”

Assistant State Attorney Andrew Urbanak prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Florida.

Circuit Judge Kathryn Weston imposed the sentence.

The case was investigated by the Daytona Beach Police Department.
