Wife Accused of Orchestrating Violent Home Invasion in Hendry County, Three Arrested

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. — A reported home invasion robbery has led to the arrest of three individuals, including the victim’s wife, after investigators determined the attack was planned from within the household, according to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded the night of April 27 to a residence on East State Road 80, where a 52-year-old man reported he had been attacked by two masked men while sitting outside his home. Authorities said the suspects, wearing hooded sweatshirts and face coverings, pushed the victim to the ground and struck him multiple times in the face with a handgun while demanding money.

Investigators said the suspects bound the victim’s hands and feet with zip ties during the assault.

The victim’s wife told deputies she witnessed the attack and ran outside to help, but was confronted by a second suspect who held a knife to her side. She was then taken inside the residence, where she surrendered $18,000 in cash, according to authorities.

Detectives said inconsistencies in the woman’s account led to further questioning. During the investigation, officials determined the victim’s wife, identified as 64-year-old Flora Norys Gonzalez, knew one of the suspects and helped plan the attack. Authorities said Gonzalez later told investigators the plan escalated beyond what she intended, prompting her to offer money to stop the assault.

Gonzalez was arrested April 29 and charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm, armed robbery, armed burglary and false imprisonment.

Two additional suspects, identified as Jose Enrique Calafet-Perez, 48, and Maykel Calafet-Calderon, 42, were also arrested and face similar charges. Calderon is additionally charged with grand theft.

All three suspects are being held without bond at the Hendry County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
