TAMPA, Florida – A judge sentenced Alicia Andrews to 15 years in prison after a jury found her guilty of manslaughter in the killing of Jacksonville rapper Charles Jones, known professionally as Julio Foolio.
The 15-year sentence was the maximum allowed under state law.
Before sentencing, Jones’ mother, Sandrikas Mays, addressed the court.
“My son was more than a rapper. He was my child and he was deeply loved,” Mays said. “No sentence will ever bring Charles back to me but accountability matters.”
Authorities said Jones was killed after multiple defendants tracked him and his friends to several locations before ambushing them at a hotel near the University of South Florida.
Earlier this month, four other defendants convicted of first-degree murder in the case were sentenced to life in prison.
