KISSIMMEE, FL — A morning raid by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and cybercrime units has landed a Kissimmee man in jail without bond after federal investigators intercepted transmissions of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and animal abuse files.
Steven Joseph Nickles was arrested on Thursday, June 4, 2026, following a targeted search warrant execution at his home in the Whispering Oaks subdivision. He faces 31 combined felony and misdemeanor counts.
Federal Cyber Tip Traced to Whispering Oaks
The local investigation was triggered earlier this month when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) flagged a regional IP address uploading and storing explicit digital media. The federal data packet was instantly rerouted to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit.
Cyber detectives tracked the digital signature directly to a specific residence within the Whispering Oaks neighborhood in Kissimmee. Armed with a signed search warrant, ICAC detectives breached the home on the morning of June 4 to secure and analyze all internet-connected hardware.
A preliminary forensic extraction of Nickles’s seized electronic devices uncovered a massive collection of illicit media. Technicians recovered separate, hidden caches containing dozens of files depicting the exploitation of minors as well as explicit animal abuse imagery.
Arrested on 31 Counts With Zero Bond
Based on the immediate digital evidence pulled from his devices, detectives formally arrested Nickles and booked him into the Osceola County Jail. He has been denied bond and faces the following statutory charges:
- 16 Counts: Possession of Child Pornography
- 14 Counts: Possession of an Image or Video of an Animal Sex Act (Bestiality)
- 1 Count: Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device
Sheriff’s officials emphasized that the investigation is actively ongoing. However, forensic analysts noted that a review of Nickles’s chat logs and geolocation history currently shows no evidence that he ever arranged physical, in-person meetings with any minors.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reaffirmed its strict stance on digital child exploitation, noting that its ICAC teams will continue to aggressively hunt down those utilizing communication networks to manage synthetic or real abuse material.
Authorities are asking anyone in the Central Florida area who may have relevant information regarding Nickles, his digital aliases, or similar online activity to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 407-348-2222.
