Palm Coast Landscaper Arrested After Taking Thousands From 81-Year-Old Homeowner

PALM COAST, Fla. – A Palm Coast landscaping business owner has been arrested after investigators say he accepted thousands of dollars from an elderly homeowner for landscaping and dock repairs that were never completed.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office announced that 51-year-old Avelino Jose Medeiros of Palm Coast was arrested July 11 on charges stemming from an investigation that began after an 81-year-old homeowner reported being defrauded.

According to investigators, the victim’s family hired Medeiros, who operated A&A Landscaping, during the summer of 2024 to repair a rotting boat dock and provide ongoing lawn maintenance. Medeiros requested a 50 percent deposit before beginning work on the project, which was quoted at approximately $4,000.

Deputies said that within days of signing the contract, Medeiros charged the family’s bank account without authorization. When confronted, he reportedly claimed the charge was a mistake and promised to return the money.

Investigators determined that over the following months Medeiros mowed the lawn only a handful of times, never began repairs on the dock and failed to refund the money.

According to the sheriff’s office, Medeiros received approximately $3,625 from the family but never completed the contracted work.

A warrant for Medeiros’ arrest was issued on June 29, 2026. Deputies located and arrested him on July 11 at a Dollar General store on County Road 305 in Bunnell.

Sheriff Rick Staly praised detectives for continuing the investigation until an arrest warrant was obtained.

Deputies charged Medeiros with two counts of larceny from a victim 65 years of age or older. He was booked into the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.

Investigators said Medeiros has also conducted business under the names Those Cabinet Guys Inc., A&A Linas Enterprise LLC, A&A Granite LLC and AA Landscaping Enterprises LLC.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Medeiros or any of his businesses to contact the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 386-313-4911.

According to authorities, Medeiros has a criminal history that includes prior arrests for burglary, grand theft and writing worthless checks.
