JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 7-year-old Jacksonville boy who was reported missing Wednesday morning has been found dead, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office announced the tragic update after an extensive search for Chace Brown, thanking the public for sharing information during the effort to locate him.
“We are heartbroken to announce Chace was found dead,” the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Thank you to all who shared this post during our search. Our hearts are with Chace’s family.”
Chace was reported missing just before 7 a.m. on Aug. 5 after he was last seen leaving his home off Broward Road near Interstate 95.
According to authorities, Chace was autistic and non-verbal, prompting an urgent search involving law enforcement and the community.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details regarding where Chace was found or the circumstances surrounding his death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
