GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Six Gainesville men have been indicted on federal charges accusing them of participating in a dogfighting conspiracy, with five of the defendants also facing multiple counts of possessing dogs for use in animal fighting.
The defendants are Taurean Jaquan Servance, 24; Jarrett Abram Servance, 45; Jarrett Abram Servance Jr., 25; Terry Lajace Lee, 44; Christopher Eugene Thompson, 56; and Clinton Thomas, 43.
All six are charged with conspiracy to violate the federal Animal Welfare Act.
Federal prosecutors also filed dozens of charges involving the possession of fighting dogs:
- Christopher Eugene Thompson, 56: 13 counts
- Clinton Thomas, 43: 12 counts
- Taurean Jaquan Servance, 24: 11 counts
- Jarrett Abram Servance Jr., 25: 11 counts
- Jarrett Abram Servance, 45: six counts
The announcement did not list additional possession-of-fighting-dogs charges against Lee beyond the conspiracy count.
Each count carries a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison upon conviction.
A jury trial for all six defendants is scheduled for Oct. 21 before Chief U.S. District Judge Allen C. Winsor in Gainesville.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Inspector General, Gainesville Police Department, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and Alachua County Animal Resources jointly investigated the case.
