Four Jacksonville Retail Theft Suspects Arrested, Including Man Wanted for Nine Months

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Four men accused of stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise from Jacksonville stores have been arrested following separate investigations by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO), including one suspect who had been wanted since January.

The suspects, identified as Latif Haneef, 57; Reginald Rose, 69; Roderick Higgins, 25; and Solomon Hansbury, 37, were arrested between October 16 and October 21, 2026.

According to JSO, detectives used surveillance footage, investigative leads and tips from the public to identify and locate the suspects. Several had previously been featured on the department’s Wanted Wednesday and Unsolved Crimes pages.

Two Men Arrested After Hardware Store Thefts

Haneef and Rose were arrested October 21 in connection with thefts at Jacksonville hardware stores.

Investigators said Rose entered a hardware store on Lenox Avenue on August 8 and removed a lawn mower without paying. He loaded the equipment into a black truck and left.

Approximately one month later, Haneef and another suspect entered a hardware store on Atlantic Boulevard, where they allegedly stole a pressure washer and packages of tools.

The suspects left in the same black truck used during the earlier lawn mower theft, according to investigators.

A tip submitted through Crime Stoppers helped detectives identify Haneef and Rose, who had recently been featured as the “Hardware Hooligans” in JSO’s Wanted Wednesday series.

Both men were arrested on charges of coordinating retail theft involving more than $3,000, either individually or with others.

The third suspect involved in the Atlantic Boulevard theft remains at large.

Man Accused of Repeated Department Store Thefts Arrested

Roderick Higgins, 25, was arrested October 18 after investigators connected him to multiple thefts at a department store on Monument Road.

According to JSO, Higgins and two other suspects, including Ricky McClenton, entered the store September 11.

Each suspect took a shopping cart, and the group met in store aisles to conceal merchandise before leaving without paying.

Investigators estimated the value of the stolen merchandise at more than $1,900.

Less than a month later, Higgins and McClenton allegedly returned to the same store and stole another $750 in merchandise, hiding the items inside shopping bags before leaving.

Higgins was eventually arrested while committing another theft at a grocery store, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

He faces a charge of coordinating retail theft involving $750 or more, either individually or with others.

McClenton had previously been featured in JSO’s Solved Sunday series.

Suspect With Seven Active Warrants Captured After Months on the Run

Solomon Hansbury, 37, was arrested October 16, more than eight months after a grand theft warrant was issued for his arrest on January 29.

The investigation stemmed from a January 5 theft at a cosmetics store on 3rd Street South in Jacksonville.

According to detectives, Hansbury entered the store, grabbed a shopping bag and filled it with more than $3,100 worth of perfumes and colognes before leaving without paying.

Investigators subsequently connected Hansbury to numerous thefts across Jacksonville.

Officers eventually identified a possible address for Hansbury, located him and took him into custody.

JSO said Hansbury had seven active warrants at the time of his arrest.

He had previously been featured on the Sheriff’s Office’s Wanted page.
