Three Palm Coast Men Arrested After Guns Pulled at Halloween Party

PALM COAST, Florida – Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested three Palm Coast men early Sunday after a fight at a Halloween party on Robinson Drive escalated into drawn guns and gunfire, the agency said.

Deputies arrested 22-year-old Braxton Samuels, 18-year-old Logan DaSilva and 22-year-old Iain Smith, all of Palm Coast. No one was reported seriously hurt.

The arrests were part of a busy Halloween weekend. Between 6 p.m. Friday, October 30, and 6 a.m. Monday, November 2, deputies made 14 arrests, handled 751 calls for service and conducted 152 traffic stops.

What deputies say happened at the party

Deputies went to a home on Robinson Drive in Palm Coast early Sunday morning on a report of a weapons disturbance. One of the victims told them he was talking with Samuels in the garage when Samuels used a racial slur and punched him in the face.

Another partygoer came into the garage, grabbed Samuels and tackled him to the ground, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

One victim told deputies that while the two men were on the ground, DaSilva and Smith pulled guns and pointed them at him and at the partygoer who stepped in. The two victims got up and started to leave while the armed men still held them at gunpoint, the victim said.

As the victims got into a vehicle, someone fired a gunshot in an unknown direction. One victim told deputies he believed DaSilva fired it.

Guns found, shots fired into the ground

Smith told deputies he owns two firearms. Deputies found one in his vehicle and the other inside his home.

Deputies also spoke with Samuels at his residence. He volunteered that he had a firearm, which he pulled and fired once into the ground, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Samuels also told deputies that DaSilva fired a shot into the ground.

When the investigation ended, deputies made these arrests:

  • Samuels: battery, improper exhibition of a firearm and discharging a firearm on residential property.
  • DaSilva: two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, improper exhibition of a firearm and discharging a firearm on residential property.
  • Smith: two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

All three went to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. The jail released Samuels on a $3,000 bond, DaSilva on a $15,000 bond and Smith on a $10,000 bond.

“These three idiots turned a fun party into a Halloween nightmare, and I’m thankful nobody was seriously injured or killed as a result of their actions,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “One guy started the fight and the other two escalated it when they threatened the victims with guns. That got them an orange Halloween costume at the Green Roof Inn.”

Motorcycle crash reveals fugitive from two states

In a separate case Sunday night, deputies responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Coast. The rider, 42-year-old Jaime Carrillo of Palm Coast, went to a local hospital with minor injuries.

While the ambulance was on its way, deputies checked Carrillo’s information in state and national databases. They determined he was wanted in two states, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Mississippi has had an active warrant for Carrillo since 2024 for a parole violation involving dangerous drugs. Missouri has three warrants for failure to appear on original charges of stolen property, harassment and tampering with a victim.

Deputies found Carrillo at the hospital, where he was refusing medical treatment and trying to get discharged. They took him into custody without incident.

Deputies arrested him on the fugitive warrants, plus charges of driving without a driver’s license and operating a motorcycle without a valid motorcycle endorsement. He is in the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility without bond.

“Life comes at you fast, as this guy learned. One second, he was cruising along on his motorcycle, next thing he knows he’s crashed, and then before he knows it, he’s off to the Green Roof Inn, and now he’ll be headed to a couple other states to face justice,” Staly said. “I commend our team for doing their research, which uncovered he was a fugitive from justice and allowed them to catch him before he checked himself out of the hospital and disappeared again. This multi-state fugitive’s run ended in Flagler County, joining all the others that have come here and got caught!”

An arrest is not a finding of guilt. The charges against all four men are accusations, and the court will decide them.
