The record is 98° today in Jacksonville and it will come very close to reaching that temp this afternoon. Storms will be delayed targeting the early evening hours across southern Georgia before sinking south into the I-10 corridor after 6 pm. Storms and showers will dissipate by 10 pm south of Jacksonville.
The lack of rain during the peak heating is making for especially dangerous hot outdoor conditions. Heat advisories are in effect until 8 pm for the entire area with hotter excessive heat warnings for areas east of I-95.
No relief is expected over the weekend. Highs stay near 100° with hot west breezes holding back the sea breeze. Just scattered afternoon and evening showers are expected beyond tonight’s rain.
