NEW CEO/President of JBCC Redefining Community and Empowering Small Black Businesses

The Jacksonville Black Chamber of Commerce (JBCC) proudly welcomes Shannon Denson as its new CEO/President. With a bachelor’s degree in leadership and development from Jacksonville University’s Davis School of Business and a master’s degree in human resources from Webster University, Denson brings extensive knowledge and experience to the role. Her passion for social justice and the entrepreneurial community will guide her efforts to empower small black businesses and communities through economic and community development.

The JBCC’s mission is to become the voice of black-owned businesses and communities by providing economic and community development, government relations, education and workforce advancement initiatives, and tourism growth. Denson’s leadership will redefine the community by promoting socioeconomic growth and social equity for underserved businesses in smaller economies that will leave legacies. With a nonpartisan approach to working with community leaders, she aims to bring all partners together to create a more robust economic environment by promoting diversity, inclusion, and synergy between communities, small black businesses, local and regional businesses, and the government.

The JBCC provides business solutions that establish long-term financial security, resources, and support concentrated on generational prosperity and economic and wellness initiatives driven towards strengthening diverse opportunities, credibility, and social equilibrium. The chamber also provides members with access to capital investment opportunities through its Capital Funding initiative. JBCC’s Workforce Development projects are designed to help businesses find the right talent that is critical to the success of their business. At the same time, the Business Wellness initiative takes a holistic approach to creating a business culture that synergizes the elements of business owners and their communities. The Legislative Education initiative aims to educate members and the community on the best interests of black businesses and the community.

“I am excited to build on our success and continuously look for new opportunities to be the voice for business advocacy within the region,” said Denson. “I look forward to working together with business partners and elected officials to strategically engage in conversations and find new ways to assist with the economic growth of small black businesses and communities.”

JBCC membership offers unparalleled opportunities to connect with peers, current and prospective partners and gain insights into businesses’ ever-changing challenges. Members have a stronger voice with elected leaders to create and improve social and economic conditions for small black businesses and communities.
