GEARUP Students of Jacksonville Participate in Digital Entrepreneurial Training

This summer’s experiences will be remembered by over 100 youth and teens from across Jacksonville that are participating in the GEARUP Summer STEAM + M Business and Technology Camp provided to prepare youth and teens for future career opportunities and applying current and future technologies to building their businesses.

The GEARUP program held through Duval County Public Schools, I’m A Star Foundation and Florida State College of Jacksonville (FSCJ) are working with Certified VR Educators William and Aida Jackson to provide a multi-layered curriculum infused with diverse technologies. The students are learning lessons about being business owners and entrepreneurs to start the process of business ownership. Program Manager Lakisha Josey, GEAR UP FSCJ Program Manager designs summer programs to be inclusive of STEAM+M Education and Learning, community partnerships that will help students to be successful to their graduation day from high school. Her motto ‘Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork,’ applies to the importance of collaboration of resources and services. This program benefits students’ across multiple areas of culture understanding, value for education, economic management and the services they need to be successful in school during the regular school year.

The Jackson’s have been educators professionally and voluntarily across Jacksonville for over 30 years. Both are members of the World Metaverse Council Education Community and WordPress Web Development Community as speakers, teachers, organizers, and business specialists.
