Primark celebrated the grand opening of its new distribution center on the Northside off Zoo Parkway, marking a significant milestone for the company’s expansion in the United States. The 550,000 square foot facility is Primark’s second distribution center in the U.S. and the sole one in the Southeast region.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday morning, Mayor Donna Deegan expressed her enthusiasm for Primark’s decision to establish operations in Jacksonville. “When global brands like Primark establish operations here, it shows the global logistics industry that Jacksonville is a city with all the advantages to get their product from ship to store shelf,” Mayor Deegan stated. “It is a reminder of why Jacksonville has earned the title of America’s Logistics Center.”
Primark cited several factors for choosing Jacksonville as its location, including the proximity to the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT), which allows for efficient importation of cargo. The port is strategically positioned within a one-day truck drive of nearly 100 million U.S. consumers, making it an ideal hub for distribution.
