Couple Arrested for Engaging in Sexual Activity with Juvenile in Citrus County

In late July 2024, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) received information indicating that 32-year-old Kendra Rose Metts and her husband, 47-year-old Jon Joseph Metts of Inverness, were engaging in a sexual relationship with a juvenile in Citrus County. CCSO Special Victims Unit (SVU) Detective Mike Mission immediately launched an investigation into the allegations.

Through the investigation, evidence was obtained that supported the claims made against Jon and Kendra Metts for engaging in sexual activity with the juvenile victim multiple times, both individually and together. Based on this evidence, Detective Mission collaborated with the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office and secured warrants for their arrests.

“Jon and Kendra Metts are predators in the truest sense of the word and are a danger to our community. They were fully aware that their actions were illegal and immoral and still chose to manipulate the juvenile victim and use them for their own sexual gratification,” said Sheriff Prendergast. “The CCSO will continue to work closely with our partners at the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office to seek closure for the victim. Thanks to Detective Mission’s hard work and dedication to uncovering the truth, Citrus County is a safer place.”

At the start of the investigation, the Metts fled their residence in Citrus County.

On August 27th, the United States Marshals Service arrested Kendra Metts in Gadsden, Alabama, where she had relocated due to the investigation. She has been charged with six counts of Unlawful Sexual Activity with Certain Minors and will be held without bond before being extradited to the Citrus County Detention Facility.

On September 4th, the United States Marshals Service arrested Jon Metts in Summerfield, Florida. He has been charged with three counts of Unlawful Sexual Activity with Certain Minors and one count of Possession of Child Pornography. Jon Metts will be held without bond and transported to the Citrus County Detention Facility.
