Duval County Man Found Guilty of Murder and Possession of Bulletproof Vest

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced that a Duval County jury found Gregory Sangle Jr. guilty of Second-Degree Murder and Possession of a Bulletproof Vest. Sangle faces up to life in prison, with sentencing to be determined by the Honorable London Kite at a later date.

On December 28, 2023, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at a Westside mobile home community. They found Arthur George dead on his front porch wheelchair ramp with a gunshot wound to the head. Witnesses reported hearing an argument between George and Sangle, followed by a gunshot. Officers detained Sangle walking down Collins Road wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a 9 mm handgun and knives.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys LaTesha Campbell and Brittany Johnson.
