Cold Case: 2001 Murder of Jacksonville Teen Remains Under Investigation

The 2001 murder of 14-year-old Jennifer Leigh Medernach in Jacksonville, Florida, continues to be investigated as authorities seek new leads. Jennifer was last seen on November 4, 2001, when she left her home in Duval County with permission to walk to a nearby store with friends. She was reported missing to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office by her mother the following day after she failed to return home.

On November 8, 2001, Jennifer’s body was discovered in a creek off County Road 217 in Clay County. Investigators determined she had been fatally stabbed.

Since her death, numerous people connected to Jennifer’s life have been interviewed, and several persons of interest have been identified. The investigation remains active, and detectives are asking the public for any information that could help solve the case.
