Quick Response Leads to Arrest in Polk County Car Burglary

Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 50-year-old Mark Christopher Carter of Bartow on Monday evening, December 9, 2024, after a car burglary was reported at approximately 6:32 p.m. Deputies responded swiftly, capturing Carter at the scene of the crime.

The victim reported that the only item missing from her vehicle was a light blue eyelash curler, which was found in Carter’s possession. During questioning, Carter admitted to committing actions he “wasn’t supposed to be doing” but declined to provide further details.

Carter was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail, where he was charged with burglary of conveyance, petit theft, and trespassing. The eyelash curler was returned to the victim.
