Daytona Beach Nuisance Abatement Board Orders Temporary Closure of J Food Store

On January 15, 2025, the Nuisance Abatement Board in Daytona Beach reviewed violations of sanctions previously imposed on J Food Store, operated by Gatlin Brothers of Daytona Beach, LLC. The sanctions stemmed from narcotics-related activities discovered on the property in 2024 and were originally set to remain in effect until February 4, 2025.

After determining that additional violations had occurred, the Board ordered the following actions:

  1. Employee Background Checks: J Food Store must conduct background checks on all employees and security guards using the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s public access system.
  2. Payment of Fees: The business must pay an outstanding $5,000 fee, initially imposed in 2024, by February 4, 2025.
  3. Temporary Closure: The business will be closed for seven days, starting January 27, 2025, at 12:01 AM and reopening on February 3, 2025, at 12:00 AM.
  4. Continuation of Sanctions: All previously imposed sanctions will remain in effect until February 4, 2025.

The Daytona Beach Police Department emphasized its commitment to public safety and holding businesses accountable for non-compliance with nuisance abatement measures.

Community members are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or potential legal violations to the Daytona Beach Police Department.
