Deerfield Beach Woman Found Dead in Burning Duplex; Homicide Investigation Underway

On Friday, January 17, 2025, at approximately 4:34 a.m., Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a fire at a duplex located at 4329 N.W. Fourth Ave. in Deerfield Beach. Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) district deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene, where they found the duplex engulfed in flames.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, and once the flames were under control, they discovered 54-year-old Ana De Souza deceased inside the residence. BSO Homicide and Crime Scene units were called to the scene, where they began conducting a death investigation.

The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious and is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
