Two Arrested After St. Petersburg Shooting and Pursuit

Two men were arrested following a shooting incident and police pursuit on Wednesday, January 29.

St. Petersburg Police officers responded to reports of gunfire at 2200 block of 14th Avenue North at 4:42 p.m. Investigators determined that Keon Dawson, 30, and Raymond Adams, 36, approached a man as he was exiting his vehicle and fired several shots at him before fleeing in a black Nissan Altima with no tag. The victim was not injured, but bullets struck his vehicle.

Officers spotted the Altima and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. A pursuit was authorized, and the car eventually stopped at 5th Avenue North and 40th Street North. Dawson and Adams exited the vehicle and ran, but a K9 team quickly apprehended them.

Police recovered an assault rifle in the backseat of the Altima and a handgun nearby. Both suspects face multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder. Authorities confirmed that the suspects and the victim were known to each other and had an ongoing dispute.
