The Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 9629 Minnesota Street in Fanning Springs, Florida, on February 3, 2025, as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking. The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of fentanyl, over 30 grams of methamphetamine, assorted prescription pills, and psilocybin mushrooms.
The following individuals were taken into custody:
- Roger Wayne Hand, 54, of Fanning Springs – Charged with Trafficking Methamphetamines, three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Maintaining a Drug Dwelling, and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device in the Commission of a Felony.
- Kathleen Dawn Luce, 44, of Fanning Springs – Charged with five counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Introduction of Contraband into a Correctional Facility.
- Joseph William Berggren, 43, of Trenton – Charged with Trafficking Methamphetamines.
Sheriff Bobby Schultz praised the work of the GCSO team and the support of the local community in their continued effort to shut down drug operations. He emphasized that Gilchrist County will not serve as a refuge for individuals engaging in criminal activity, stating that law enforcement will pursue investigations aggressively to ensure those involved face justice.
